題目
Vapor bubble formed around a hot filament in superfluid 4He
解説
A glowing hot filament in superfuid 4He without visible boiling is one of the most popular demonstrations of superfluidity. Usual interpretation of the effect is that extremely high heat conductivity of superfluid 4He prevents boiling. However, this is a little bit confusing. If the heat conductivity is infinitely high, how can the filament temperature increase so high? The resolution is that the filament is covered by a vapor bubble so that a large temperature gradient builds up inside the bubble. This is known as a "film boiling" in cryogenics. In this talk, our recent experimental studies on this phenomenon will be reported [1,2]. Possible future studies using this phenomena are discussed in the context of superfluid hydrodynamics.
